Adeyanju Deji’s recent social media post attacking the Islamic Republic of Iran and maligning the person of the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamene’i, over the foreign-backed riots in Iran reflects a disturbing blend of intellectual laziness, selective outrage, and political opportunism.
It is deeply ironic that someone who routinely positions himself as a “pro-democracy” activist would uncritically echo the same narratives manufactured and amplified by Western powers with a long and documented history of destabilizing sovereign nations through propaganda, sanctions, and engineered unrest. The events in Iran were not a spontaneous expression of popular will, but part of a broader pattern of externally encouraged agitation aimed at weakening an independent state that has consistently refused to submit to imperial domination.
Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamene’i is not merely a political figure; he is a symbol of resistance, national sovereignty, and ideological independence for millions of Iranians and oppressed peoples across the world. To reduce Iran’s complex political realities to shallow social media talking points while conveniently ignoring the role of foreign intelligence agencies, hostile media networks, and economic warfare is either a result of willful ignorance or calculated dishonesty.
More troubling is Adeyanju Deji’s selective moral posture. He remains conspicuously silent or evasive when Western-allied regimes brutally suppress protests, bomb civilians, or trample on human rights, yet suddenly finds his voice when a non-aligned nation like Iran becomes the target. This inconsistency exposes the selfishness of his stance: activism driven not by principle, but by relevance, attention, and alignment with dominant global narratives.
True activism demands intellectual honesty, historical awareness, and the courage to challenge imperial hypocrisy not to serve as an unofficial spokesperson for foreign interests under the guise of human rights advocacy. Iran, like any sovereign nation, has the right to protect its stability and resist externally orchestrated chaos, just as any responsible state would.
If Adeyanju Deji is genuinely committed to justice, he must begin by interrogating his sources, questioning whose interests his rhetoric serves, and applying the same standards uniformly rather than attacking nations and leaders who refuse to bow to Western hegemony.
