Each Act Of Patriotism Drives Nation Closer Toward Achieving Cooperation, Coordination and Development: A Lesson From The Practice Of TAJ Bank Plc, By: K.M Aboki

1.0 Introduction:

In any country of the world, citizens are who derive positive changes and development to their country either through political engine, economic effort or technological contribution, etc. To do that it requires time, dedication and sacrifice to the extent that most time the sacrifice is more than the benefits that could be gained. Invariably, that could not be done without love, affection and feelings of belonging to one’s country. This is just one instance that highlighted how love of ones country can help in achieving national development.

In this write up an attempt is made to provide a comparative analysis of how a symbolic expression of love can be the turning point of greatness of a Nation.

2.0 Background:

It is only TAJ Bank Plc. Among all Commercial Banks we have in Nigeria that is doing it so good nationally and patriotically, in my best view and believe based on verifiable fact.

Wherever you come across any of their branch whether in Kano, Kaduna, Abuja or Lagos, etc. You will always see one very tall standing poll with a Nigerian flag attached to it hanging and shining on the sky. To me personally that is not just business strategy but a deliberate and compelling act that can only be done by patriotic, nationalist and optimistic citizen who believes in his country and is ready and willing to contribute toward achieving all-encompassing development.

To be Honest with you, once I see that flag I used to remember my encounter with one lecturer at the department of Public Administration ABU Zaria, (Kongo Campus). It was his first class in that session and he is taking them nationalism (GENs 101), on that day I followed my friend to their class who at that time got admission to study public administration at the same year with me. The lecturer opened the class with a question that made of the students silent while some of them laughed and chilled at him. He asked thus, “Gentlemen, who is ready to die for Nigeria?” At that point the class was silent while I was rising my hand, he stopped and asked again, “gentlemen who is ready to die for Nigeria?” Only one person rose his hand again making it two people only myself and him out of morethan 200 students. The lecturer put his maker, declared the class finished and proceeded to the exit that was when the class roared. We begged him to stay and he did, at this point he announced to the clss that he will be taking them on Nationalism as a course and it is all about loves and support of one’s country therefore since majority are not ready to die for the country it means we were not ready to learn the course, he preached and cautioned us. That is just by the way, even though still the above scenario is the case with many of us, we are no longer patriotic and nationalist all we care is about our national cake.

The question is , TAJ Bank as an artificial person (juristic personality) can be as patriotic and nationalist as it is why can’t we be like it or even more than. Don’t get me wrong to think that I am saying TAJ Bank is better than any other Bank or it has flawless operational system, never! What I am simply saying is that if we can all show our lives, caring and patriotism to our dear nation like the way TAJ Bank is doing by rising the national Flag in a stylistic way above all other flag, Nigeria will be better because love is the backbone of all cooperation and with cooperation there will be coordination and progress hence prosperity is assured.

I salute TAJ Bank for choosing this modus operandi and I pray God almighty to clean its heart and make it one of those persons that helps it fellow Nigerian whether legal persons or natural persons.

I wish to see it discharging its corporate social responsibility (CSR) especially to the vulnerable ones. My love for my country is nonnegotiable, it knows no boundary, I just pray and hope that Nigeria will be better again. May Allah (S.W.T) Bless TAJ Bank Plc. May God Almighty bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

I call on my fellow Nigerians to learn from TAJ Bank’s practice and may be then we may regain the flesh of love, affection and readiness to serve our father’s land with sincerity and passion.
