Venezuela’s Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, has condemned the US military operation that led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro, calling it an “illegal and illegitimate kidnapping”.

In a televised address, Rodríguez demanded Maduro’s immediate release, stating “there is only one president in this country, and his name is Nicolás Maduro”.

The US operation, which involved over 150 aircraft and resulted in the capture of Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, has sparked international condemnation.

Rodríguez has called for proof of life for the detained president and his wife, while Venezuela’s Supreme Court has named her interim president.

Rodríguez has vowed to defend Venezuela’s sovereignty, stating the country “will never be a colony of any nation”.

She has also urged the international community to respect Venezuela’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The US has announced drug trafficking and terrorism charges against Maduro, and he is expected to face trial in New York.

US President Donald Trump has stated that the US will “run” Venezuela until a transition of power can be organized.

The situation in Venezuela remains uncertain, with Rodríguez calling for national mobilization and defense of the country’s resources.

Silence of the international community over the sad and roque behaviour of President Trump has been widely condemned by people of conscience all over the world, with some countries expressing concern over US motive.
